7) Make Yourself Big!
This seventh and final method for self-confident appearance deals with two components: Firstly, the psychological aspect. You must mentally take on the role of a strong personality so that you can shine on stage and convince people of yourself. On the other hand, you must also use your body language correctly in order to credibly convince yourself and the audience of this role.
So you have to "make yourself big" in two ways: On the one hand by a self-confident mental attitude and on the other hand by showing physical presence on stage. This method completes the seven practical methods for a self-confident appearance during a successful speech.
So if you are already on stage, then show yourself. You cannot give a good speech and convince the audience if you play hide and seek on stage and make yourself small. You have entered the stage to present yourself and your ideas! Then go for it!
Certainly, it is anything but easy to speak in front of people, especially if there are many people. It is certainly a challenge and requires a lot of courage to go on stage and present something to a large (or small) crowd. The attention of a dozen or perhaps even hundreds of people is solely focused on you for a certain period of time.
Now the crucial question arises: How do you deal with this situation? Our action always results from two motives - fear or passion. You can now be in despair and think: âOh no! So many people ... What am I going to do now? I don't want to screw it up â¦â
Such a thought keeps you small. You look at the situation from the perspective the audience against me. The audience is in the majority and whoever is in the majority has the upper hand. But in reality, it is your fear that has the upper hand over you. You can now imagine the worst possible scenarios that will never happen, or you can change your view of things and approach the matter courageously.
Your listeners are people like you and me. The listeners have the same problems, the same worries and the same fears as you and I. Or do you think you are the only person on the planet who has trouble speaking to an audience at first? We all have to face this challenge (sooner or later). And this is exactly the point at which we can make a decision.
Either you decide to be afraid of the challenge and make yourself small - or you gather all our energy and your profitable abilities and take all your courage and ROCK the stage and show the world what YOU are capable of.
Show the world what you are capable of! You give your speech for the purpose of helping, informing, inspiring and convincing people. And in order to convey the content convincingly, you must be convinced of yourself. Put yourself intellectually into the role of a self-confident and strong person who looks forward to challenges and masters them very well.
